Synopsis

Think of your favorite book series - the one that has gotten you through the toughest of times and felt like it was written specifically for YOU. What would you do to visit there? How would it feel to meet the characters you love and know so well?

Now imagine you’re on your way to a secluded cabin for a relaxing getaway, but get lost and stumble upon a small town. This small town reminds you a lot of the one in your favorite book series - like, a lot. Well, that’s because it is.

Eileen Merriweather finds herself in the fictional town of her favorite book series, with each of her favorite characters, plus one man that she doesn’t recall being in any of the books. It feels as though she was put here on purpose, to wrap up the series that will never get it’s happy ending after the author prematurely passed away. As Eileen ties all of the pieces together, she finds a bit more magic than she ever could have imagined.

Sometimes, a book can change your life. It’s hard to explain that to someone who doesn’t read, or who has never felt their heart bend so strongly toward a story that it might just snap in two. Some books are a comfort, some a reprieve, others a vacation, a lesson, a heartbreak.

Favorites

The thing that stood out to me most was the unique storyline! I adored Ashley Poston’s writing and the magical elements that made this story so cozy. Eileen is so relatable and I was so envious of her position in the book. She truly found herself while in the town of Eloraton and I long for that feeling of self-discovery and confidence.

Honestly, this book could have ended like three times and I wouldn’t have been upset. The last twenty pages or so felt like wrapping the novel up in wrapping paper, then putting a bow on it, and then a gift tag, and then another bow! It just kept getting better and I feel as though it had BEST ending ever! I was super giddy by the end of this story and would absolutely read it again!

Love was a bunch of small things that added up to bigger things. Love was feeling valued. And accepted. Just the way you were.

ICKS

I feel as though the only thing that lost me in this book was the quantity of characters mentioned. I understand that it was special to Eileen to connect with each of these fictional people that she felt attached to and adored, though as the reader, I didn’t have this connection to them. It felt as though I was being pulled in too many directions, trying to remember too many names and interactions. This is, of course, my own opinion, but perhaps too many characters caused me to tune out a bit through the middle.

And I love how you make me want to see the world in color, and I love how I feel when I’m with you. And maybe we won’t work out, but maybe we will—and I’ll run across cities, and I’ll show up with boom boxes outside your window, and I’ll meet you at the tops of buildings, and I’ll kiss you in the rain just to remind you that you’re worth every moment.

Final Thoughts

Though the middle lost me a bit, this book had so many elements that kept me engaged. I was so intrigued by the plot and how it would end, as well as where the main characters would end up. The audiobook was phenomenal and I look forward to reading and annotating the book sometime in the future. I absolutely recommend this to those in search of a cozy magical romance story!
