Synopsis

A hundred reasons to run. A cowboy to make her stay…

Hollywood starlet Nina Keller is searching for an escape. Arriving at Hunt Ranch after a terrifying assault, she only wants one thing: to rediscover who she is.

Maverick Hunt was never a part of that plan. But with his kind heart and unwavering patience, Nina can’t help but feel safe around the strong – and undeniably handsome – cowboy. And that is worth more than he could ever know.

Enchanted by ranch life with Maverick and his young daughter, Poppy, Nina begins to imagine a future for herself in the country – in seeking an escape, she may have instead found a home.

But that dream is threatened when Nina’s past catches up with her. And when an unlikely predator strikes, she and Maverick must make a choice: to let each other go or face the world together.

She wasn’t entirely sure how it had come down down to this, wasn’t quite certain how a life could be so drastically altered in only one night.

Favorites

This well-balanced novel truly has it all: suspense, humor, heartbreak, and love. Touching so delicately on the lasting effects of PTSD, readers who have gone through similar events can find comfort in knowing they are not alone in their feelings and struggles. The portrayal of how quickly walls go up and the effort needed to break them down after a traumatic experience is so raw and real. Maverick is the most patient man with a heart of gold, showing how gracefully someone can support another.

He hadn’t meant for it to happen. Hell, he’d even tried to prevent it. But only a dead man could have resisted her. Nina had a warrior’s heart and a contrastingly gentle spirit.
