Synopsis

This book has everything I look for in a thriller novel - a fast-paced plot with relatable characters that always keeps me guessing! The storyline is so well executed, giving just the right amount of information to keep you hooked while still leaving an element of mystery.
Ziggy is such a brilliant and lovable character. He's so passionate about his work and bringing justice to the victims and their families. His relationship with Sadie is so sweet, and I really enjoyed their interactions. I could totally envision these two becoming extremely successful as partners.
Evelyn's story was a roller coaster and I was so torn in feeling sympathetic or suspicious of her. I really loved the slow unraveling of her past life and how it connected with the present. The situation with her brother is so tragic and I never could have imagined living that way.
Hawthorne's character is SOOO eerie - he's an amazing villian! His demeanor is written so well and truly portrayed a haunting individual. His conversations and mannerisms were so entertaining and yet chilling at the same time.
โIt was his eyes that unnerved her the most... Seeing them without the sheen of photographic paper, they were even more startling. Piercing. Cold. Calculatingโ
Final Thoughts
The ending was perfect and I'm really excited to see where the author takes these characters next! Thank you so much to the author, Catherine Yaffe, for the arc copy of this book! I highly recommend The Shadow Killer and will be catching up on the rest of the series in the meantime.
