Bookish Event ft. Pilates
Need a break from reading alone at home? Introverts and extroverts alike would thrive at this fun-filled event! Local and female-owned store, Book Love, teamed up with Kathleen Derrico of KD Pilates for the dreamiest of occasions: a productive morning of movement and fuel for both the body and mind!
This beautiful Saturday morning began with a beginner-friendly Pilates class on the community green of Pinehills! Kathleen is a girls-girl through and through, bringing all the energy and vibes to her workout. She even came with extra mats and resistance bands for those who may not own any! With fantasy-themed music to set the “main character” vibe, she lead an amazing 45 minute workout class for all of us book lovers.
To wrap it up she provided each of us a cold towel to cool off with - because man, I was SWEATING - and gave us bookish stickers to choose from! She is the sweetest thing and I will absolutely be on the lookout for more of her events. I’d love to see you guys there and highly recommend!
Once our workout was complete, we headed into Book Love for the chance to browse their amazing selection. The best part about this event: it comes with a free paperback! I had so much fun winding down and chatting about books amongst all of the stacks with friends. The staff is so kind and really know their stuff - they have a table dedicated to staff recommendations and you’ll find their favorites marked all over the store. Ultimately, I chose Maine Characters by Hannah Orenstein and am so looking forward to reading it.
One of the best parts about shopping at Book Love is cozying up in one of their corner chairs or tables with your new books. The shop is so welcoming and such a great place to spend your day if you’re in need of a change of scenery. In the warm summer months, be sure to take advantage of the Beer Garden where you can grab a seat, drink a beer, and shop discounted books! This unique outdoor space is such a gorgeous opportunity to soak up the sun and spend time with friends.
Nana, her bestie, and I enjoying some ice cream and coffee from Stuzzi’s!
In addition to the main store, you’ll find a shipping container that has been converted to an outdoor book shop! Inside is stocked full of used books at a discounted rate. Spend time browsing their rotating selection and enjoy one of the food trucks that park nearby; two that I’ve tried are Alden Parked and Get In My Belly - they did not disappoint.
Last but not least, you MUST visit Stuzzi’s - a delicious cafe and sweets shop that makes delicious chocolate right in-house. If you ever see me with a Mocha Iced Latte, just KNOW it’s from Stuzzi’s because otherwise I genuinely hate coffee. Nothing hits quite like a piece of dark chocolate after a good workout😉
Be sure to keep an eye out for amazing events like this on Book Love’s website! Reading doesn’t always have to be an independent activity. It’s so much fun to get out and meet people that are local and share similar interests to you. I had such a blast and felt so productive after completing a Pilates class and shopping all before noon. Hope to see you at the next one!
